Characteristic-Based Fluid Flow Modeling between Two Eccentric Cylinders in Laminar and Turbulent Regimes

Determining the flow between eccentric cylinders is crucial in a wide range of industries. The governing equations for cannot be solved analytically. Therefore, three-dimensional incompressible viscous fluid and concentric has numerically been simulated this paper to investigate them using characteristic-based approach. first-order scheme used calculate convective terms, whereas second-order averaging technique fluxes. Taylor number, eccentricity distance, Reynolds radius ratio are considered controlling parameters cylinders. influence on patterns presented terms velocity, pressure, contours. It found that at constant asymmetric centrifugal forces produce vortices right internal rotating cylinder as distance increases. When increases, magnitude shear stress its fluctuation wall, well pressure rise. numerical results obtained were validated by comparing previously published experimental results, which showed high level agreement.
